It isn't the BCS game. It's the BS game. It was obvious that Notre Dame was overmatched from the get go. Alabama dominated this laugher and it only further proves that there needs to be a playoff scenario in college football. I know they are moving to a four team playoff scenario in the next couple of years but really it should be the top eight teams.
There are too many good teams at the top that are deserving of a chance to compete for the championship. Teams like Oregon, Ohio State, Georgia who came within a couple of yards of competing for the national championship, Texas A&M who came on strong down the stretch were all deserving of competing for the championship.
Many teams have a bad week during the season and that bad week should not take them out of the hunt. Also, some teams steadily improve as the season goes on (Texas A&M) and while they started slow, by the end of the season, they may be one of the strongest teams in the country.
Additionally, I think it is ridiculous that the title game is played a month after the regular season finale. I don't care how much practice or scrimmaging a team does, it does not replace real game situation and to go that long without playing a game you are not the same team after that long a break.
Notre Dame is a decent team and under the current rules probably deserved to play in the game but they are not one of the top teams in the country and there are better teams that could have put up a better fight for the championship.
