Again, now that the holiday music is being played on the radio, I have another song that I find amusing.
I think we all know the Band Aid song back from the '80s. It is a compilation of European artists singing a song to help hunger in Africa. It is basically the British version of We Are the World. It's a pretty good song but there is one part in there that always makes me chuckle. It's Bono's part. Now U2 may very well be my most favorite band so I am a Bono fan as well. However, in the song, Bono's part is, "Well, tonight thank God it's them instead of you!"
I chuckle because I am not sure why I would thank God that people in Africa are suffering. I get what is intended by the words. I am sure it is meant that we should just be thankful that we aren't suffering. Still, seems like they could have chosen some better words. Anyway, just something else I find amusing/interesting about a holiday song and I find it amusing/interesting every year.
